Aloo Shimla Mirch     

A simple combination of potato and green bell pepper , easy to prepare and perfect for weekday lunch or dinner.

INGREDIENTS


  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 pinch asafoetida
  • 1/2 cup onion
  • 3/4 cup potato
  • 1/2 tbsp garlic
  • 1/2 tbsp ginger
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp dry mango powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup tomato
  • 1/2 cup Capsicum / bell pepper
  • 1 tsp garam masala.



INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a pan add cooking oil
  2. Add cumin in heated oil and add pinch of asafoetida/heing.
  3. Add onion and sute for 1-2 min
  4. Add Potato and sauté onion and potato together for 3-4 minutes.
  5. Add ginger and garlic and cover. Cook for 2 -3 minutes.
  6. Add dry spices - chilli powder , dry mango powder and salt.
  7. Add tomato and cooke for 1-2 min.
  8. Add some water to avoid masala from burning.
  9. Cover and cook for 2-3 min.
  10. Add capsicum / bell pepper , cover and cook for 2-3 min.
  11. Check the potatoes by breaking them, if cooked as desired add Garam masala.
  12. Enjoy your hard work.
